We’re pleased to share the following tips on why it’s a great idea to get braces before the new school year starts!

Back to School With Braces

It’s always exciting to think of a brand new school year starting soon. Kids of all ages are gearing up for new classes, new friends, and a new set of lasting memories. Many children of school age receive braces or Invisalign at some point during their education. In fact, orthodontics can even be seen as a “rite of passage” for many students. Because they often know many other friends or classmates who also have braces or Invisalign, the experience can be shared among them.

When a child first receives braces or Invisalign, there will be a short period of adjustment as he or she gets used to wearing them. Kids must learn to speak and eat properly while wearing their braces, as well as establish a good dental hygiene routine. Brushing and flossing can be a bit more difficult than usual and will take time to learn. It’s a great idea to navigate all of these challenges before entering into a brand new school year, where other adjustments are taking place. That’s why summer is the perfect time to have orthodontic treatment done.
